Most of the fabulous museums in Bogotá are free – we did them all – including the Gold Museum, free on Sundays. Museo Botero is mostly dedicated to Fernando Botero – who paints and sculpts gorgeously chubby and voluptuous people and animals sharing space with Picasso, Matisse, Freud, Degas… We got up at 2.30am to watch the rugby final at the “English Pub”, £4 including the best breakfast roll ever! Bogotá felt very safe and we stayed in Candelaria, the cultural heart – watching dance at the theatre, street music, political graffiti and an Afro-Columbian festival where a woman deftly conjured up an African headwrap for me, slightly tilted to the right to indicate I was married! Eating the local Chocolate Completo at the famous but tiny Hidden Door cafe, was a strange experience, dipping local cheese into hot chocolate🤢. Halloween is huge in Bogotá, everyone dresses up and parties – the 2 women in the photo had just won their office dress up Competition!
