An easy drive this time from the lake to Antigua. It’s a small town which once had 36 churches – over half were badly damaged by the earthquake of 1773 and were abandoned, but you can still see their former glory. We stumbled upon the SkyBar for a slightly chilly sunset and got chatting to the owner – Les from Bolton! Walking back through the town to get ready for some live jazz, I cracked my head into one of their low level stone window sills – so instead of a night of live jazz, I slept for 14 hoursπ€! Despite the badly designed exteriors, Antigua has a really nice vibe, great cultural events and lovely coffee! The cobbled streets are ancient and not designed for chicken buses, bicycles and Tonys big feet but despite this we can’t wait to go back to spend more time there.
Great photos. Are they taken on phones or cameras? Is Guatemala your favourite so far? What a fab trip.
