It’s been a busy few days – so here’s some highlights!!!
Punta Arenas –
Amazing cemetery, topiary trees reminiscent of green Minions! 1 upsetting area solely for babies and children’s graves – most from the 1920’s – found 2 graves in English.
Great fish market – with tiny cafes upstairs selling King crab empanadas!
Fabulous Airbnb hosts – Tito and Marlies, who treated us like family. They lent us their bikes, it poured down, we got lost but found some sheep!
Flight to: Punto Montt – drove to:
Puerto Varas –
It’s spring and the trees are full of blossom and bright green leaves.
The sun shone all day and the volcanoes are snow capped and turn pale pink at sunset.
Spent an afternoon at Petrohue cascades, pounding turquoise waterfalls which run directly off the volcanoes.
We explored Frutillar – a “German” Town on the lake – watching families enjoying the volcanic beach and loved the beautifully designed wooden clad Theatre on the Lake.
Discovered a tiny village at the end of the lake – we walked along the deserted coastal path which ended in a small island. Had a quick paddle in the icy water!! Made another dog friend – what’s happening to me!
Off to Pucon next….
