Window seats in the plane gave us incredible views of snow capped mountains announcing our arrival in Ushuaia – the end of the world! Signs for Las Malvinas made us consider whether to lie about our nationality – but a friendly Chilean guy taking our photo at the Ushaia sign – lent over to Tony and whispered ” Margaret Thatcher” and laughed loudly! Our out of town Airbnb meant that we had to navigate the local buses where helpful locals directed us to the centre of town. Whilst drinking Submarinos – hot milk with a submerged bar of chocolate – to warm up ( it’s flipping freezing here!) the cafe played a loud rendition of Spanish Happy Birthday, with everyone clapping and joining in. We were then treated to a piece of cake from the birthday boy. Such lovely people. The town has some quirky buildings, some great street art and statues, strange toilet signs, everything is flavoured with Dulce de Leche and there are about 100 outdoor clothing shops – and it snowed this morning!
Love the Toilet signs.Snow brrrr!!! xx
